ServiceArizona is an easy way for Arizona residents to take care of Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) business any time of the day or night, from the comfort of their home or office. Currently, Arizona residents may use ServiceArizona for: online Vehicle Registration Renewals, Personalized/Specialty Plates, Fleet Registration Renewals, Address/Email Changes, ordering Replacement Driver Licenses or Identification Cards with or without an address change, obtaining a Restricted Use 3-Day Permit, viewing available Plate Credit, Driver License Reinstatement, Voter Registration, Duplicate Vehicle Registration, obtaining a 30-Day General Use Permit, Plate Refund, Vehicle Sold Notice, Vehicle Fee Recap, Citizens MVR - Title and Registration and Driver License, Insurance Verification, Tab Replacement, Off-Highway Vehicle Decal, Lien Motor Vehicle Inquiry, Emissions/Registration Fee Check, Permanent Disability Placard Replacement, Vehicle De-Insure Certificate, Schedule Travel ID Appointments, Insurance Update and Vehicle Reinstatement and for Fleet Application.
The Insurance Update Application is a service that allows our customers to provide vehicle insurance policy information directly to MVD should they cancel a policy, or perhaps find a new insurance company with better rates and decide to switch. This application allows for quick and easy updates and peace of mind that we have your insurance details on file. Receiving a letter from us requesting policy information means that we don’t have any active policies on file, and could possibly result in vehicle suspension. The application itself in no way interferes with the state law requiring insurance companies to communicate changes to us with 7 days, that will still be occurring and gives MVD the opportunity to perform various measures of validation and compliance for information updated through this application.
Insurance Reinstatement is a service that allows citizens to electronically reinstate a vehicle that has been suspended for violating the mandatory insurance laws of Arizona. The reinstatement process will determine eligibility for reinstatement, and also makes real time updates to or customer database upon completion.
The Motor Vehicle Division must collect a fee for each vehicle reinstatement from a suspension in the amount of $50.00
- The insurance application is equipped to allow for reinstatement fees to be paid online, and
- Provide you with a receipt confirmation that indicates the vehicle has been reinstated.
Your insurance company should electronically send the Motor Vehicle Division your policy number and complete vehicle identification number for new policies, non-renewal of policies and cancellations.
To ensure that your insurance policy information is recorded accurately, you can use the ServiceArizona Insurance application to provide us with any insurance policy changes at any time! It is quick and we will ask for information that is printed on your insurance identification card!
If you have received an Insurance Verification Intent to suspend notification, you should verify your insurance information using the “Insurance update / Vehicle Reinstatement” application. If there is a problem, the application will refer you to your insurance company or Motor Vehicle Division based on the information on file.
The Insurance Verification service includes:
- Entering Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), Vehicle Make, Vehicle Year, Arizona Insurance policy number or Binder and Customer/Company information
- Confirming data entered

The Insurance reinstatement service includes:
- Entering Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), Vehicle Make, Vehicle Year, Arizona Insurance policy number or Binder and Customer/Company information
- Confirming data entered
- Viewing and printing the insurance verification results
- Completing an optional survey
Your Arizona insurance document may display the word “BINDER” instead of a policy number. Insurance companies use the word Binder until the insurance company is able to assign a policy number. The binder is good for 90 days from date of issue. When Binder appears on your document, you should enter the word “Binder” as your policy number on EZ Insurance Verification for the policy number.
- Arizona Insurance document
- Customer/AZ Driver License Number
- A web browser that supports Secure Socket Layer (SSL) such as Netscape or Internet Explorer
- An ink jet or laser printer

The registered owner of the vehicle or the registered owner’s insurance company may verify insurance information.
Insurance Verification is free.
Per Statue. The Motor Vehicle Division must collect a $50 reinstatement fee for each vehicle reinstating from an insurance suspension. Generally, this is the only fee associated with vehicle reinstatement however; there are certain instances where other fees that may apply if you’re driving privileges are suspended along with your vehicle.
The “No Record Found” message may display when one or more of the required information fields you entered was not found or does not match MVD’s records:
Vehicles in private names (individuals) or company names:
- Vehicle Identification Number, Vehicle Make, Vehicle year
- Customer/AZ Drivers License Number, Company/Company Customer Number
- Name
- Mailing Zip Code
This error message may display when the VIN number has been typed incorrectly into either the insurance companies database, the Motor Vehicle Division’s Title and Registration Database or both. To ensure insurance information is received and updated accurately, please verify the VIN number printed on your Insurance Card, and Arizona Vehicle Registration matches the VIN on the vehicle.
If the VIN printed on your insurance card is incorrect, please contact your insurance company for resolution. If the VIN printed on the insurance card matches what is physically on the vehicle, the VIN may have been recorded incorrectly and will require a level 1 inspection before any corrections can be made to our records.
One or more of the following reasons may apply:
- Your insurance company must be licensed by the Department of Insurance to do business in the State of Arizona. Out of state insurance is not acceptable.
- Your insurance company has failed to send your insurance information to the Motor Vehicle Division. They are required to send new policies, non-renewal of policies and policy cancellations.
- The vehicle identification number, vehicle make, or vehicle year sent by your insurance company does not match MVD’s database.
- The policy number displaying on your card/document may not match what your insurance company submitted. Try entering the policy number without the leading or trailing zeros.
Personal - Liability insurance coverage that meets the States insurance requirements for personal passenger vehicles
Commercial – Insurance coverage for vehicles that are used for business (policy must state that it is a commercial policy on the ID card)
SR22 – Certificate of insurance for driver license/vehicle suspension (SR22 is only used for reinstating suspension on judgment or citation issued for failure to have liability insurance at the time of citing. Also used for any DUI or admin actions on a person’s driving record.)
Collectible – This is for vehicles that are antique, classic or historic vehicles. (Must be collectible insurance provided by the insurance company and the policy must indicate in the verbiage that the vehicle is antique, classic or historic)

The Federal Driver's Privacy Protection Act 18 U.S.C. 2721-2725, as well as Title 28, Chapter 2, Article 5 of the Arizona Revised Statutes, specifies that the personal information contained in your vehicle record may not be released to anyone without your consent, except when it is a matter of public health and safety, or when the individual or entity requesting such information is otherwise authorized to obtain it under federal law. However, during the duplicate registration process, you may consent to the release of your driver license and vehicle record information to any individual or entity that makes a proper request. This consent would apply to all owners of this vehicle.
